Questions & Answers
Do You Restore Customers’ Own Furniture?
Yes, I do.
If you have a piece that’s well made and has sentimental value, I’d be delighted to discuss restoring or upcycling it. Every commission is different, so the best place to start is by sending me a few photographs along with the dimensions and a little information about what you’d like to achieve.
How Do I Request a Commission?
Simply get in touch using the contact form or send me an email with a few photographs of your furniture.
I’ll have a look at the piece, discuss your ideas and provide a quotation before any work begins.
What Types of Furniture Do You Restore?
I restore a wide variety of solid wood furniture, including:
- Chest of drawers
- Sideboards
- Tables
- Bureaus
- Occasional furniture
- Upholstered pieces
If you’re unsure whether your furniture is suitable, just ask.
Do You Only Work With Solid Wood?
Where possible, yes.
I believe quality solid wood furniture is well worth preserving and often restores beautifully. While I occasionally work with veneered furniture, I generally don’t restore modern flat-pack MDF furniture.
What Paints And Finishes Do You Use?
I use high-quality products, including Fusion Mineral Paint and Dixie Belle, alongside carefully chosen finishes that suit each individual piece.
Sometimes the natural timber is the star of the show, while other pieces suit a painted finish. Every restoration is approached individually.
Can I Buy Furniture Directly From The Website?
Yes.
Smaller pieces and vintage homewares can be purchased online.
For larger furniture, I prefer to discuss delivery arrangements first to ensure everything arrives safely.
Do You Deliver?
Yes.
Collection is available from Edinburgh, and delivery can be arranged throughout the UK.
Delivery costs vary depending on the size of the furniture and your location.
Can You Source A Particular Piece of Furniture?
Absolutely.
If you’re looking for something specific—a sideboard, dining table or chest of drawers, for example—I’d be happy to keep an eye out. Finding unusual and well-made furniture is one of my favourite parts of the job.
Will Every Piece Look Perfect?
Not necessarily—and that’s part of its charm.
Many pieces have lived long and interesting lives before arriving in my workshop. I carefully restore and repair them while preserving the character that makes them unique.
Where appropriate, I leave small signs of age that add to the story of the furniture.
How Do I care for my restored furniture?
Every piece comes with simple care advice.
Generally, I recommend using a soft cloth for cleaning, avoiding harsh chemicals and protecting surfaces from excessive heat and standing water.
With a little care, your furniture should be enjoyed for many years to come.
Can I reserve a piece?
Yes.
If you’ve fallen in love with something but need a little time to arrange collection or delivery, please get in touch. I’ll always do my best to help.
Why choose restored furniture?
Because beautiful furniture deserves another chance.
Older furniture was built to last, with craftsmanship and quality that’s increasingly hard to find today. Choosing restored furniture means bringing something unique into your home while helping reduce waste and preserving pieces that still have many years of life ahead of them.
For me, it’s about more than sustainability. It’s about recognising quality, celebrating craftsmanship and helping beautiful furniture continue its story.
